APPLICATION
Foil and sheets are cold rolled of aluminum and its alloys. The minimum thickness of the produced foil is 6µm, aluminum tape up to 10mm.
Aluminum foil and sheet materials are used in the production of:
- flexible packaging of medicines, cigarettes, food
- food containers, bottle caps
- aseptic coatings
- reflective insulation
- high-temperature thermal insulation of water-heating boilers, saunas, climate systems, underfloor heating
- capacitors, transformers, cable shielding sheath
- structural materials
- radiators for refrigeration, heating and climate control equipment
- vehicles (sound insulation, fire protection)
- laminated product
- self-adhesive tapes
- printed products
In addition to industrial use, soft foil is used in everyday life for cooking and storing food, cosmetics and hairdressing.
FEATURES
Aluminum foil grades can be classified as food grade and industrial grade:
- Household foil. Thickness: 6-25µm. Usually annealed. Supplied in rolls.
- Industrial foil. Thickness: 18-700µm. There are many various grades of alloys used and processing methods (annealed, quenched, hardened, etc.). The foil is used in the production of blister packs of medicines, electrical products, and construction materials. Supplied in rolls.
- Industrial aluminum sheets are more rigid and up to 10mm thick. Aluminum tapes and sheets are used in construction and production of structural materials.
Aluminum is supplied in coils and sheets:
- Coils up to 1,750mm wide
- Tapes 10-600mm
- Sheets up to 1,500mm wide, up to 6,000mm long
Aluminum foil and tapes are easily machined and stuck together. The material is corrosion-proof due to a thin oxide film which quickly forms on the surface.
The foil can be smooth or embossed. For hydrophilic properties, the material is coated with varnish (black, blue, gold).
Aluminum tapes are produced plain and anodized. There are grades of alloy foil with special corrosion resistance to weather factors and aggressive media.
Grades of insulation aluminum foil are used for insulation of pipelines and heating mains, laminating of thermal insulation boards.
Aluminum foils and sheets have the key properties of aluminum and aluminum-based alloys:
- Density: 2.69 g/cm3 (light weight)
- Young’s modulus: 70 GPa (plasticity)
- Thermal conductivity: 237 W/mK (good heat conductivity)
- Electrical conductivity: 37•106 Cm/m (good electrical conductivity)
- Melting point: 660⁰C (heat-resistance)
- Reflects light and IR radiation
- Barrier properties: protects against penetration of moisture and gases, inert to cosmetics, products, medicines
Can be recycled (ECO)
