Bimetallic thermostat (disk, KSD)

Electromechanical device for overheating protection of heating, cooling, and ventilation devices. The thermostat is activated when the threshold temperature is reached.
It has a simple design and no energy consumption.

APPLICATION

A bimetallic thermostat protects electrical equipment from overheating. When the operating temperature is reached, the thermostat turns off the heater. When the thermostat is cooled to the temperature recovery, the heater is turned on again.
KSD thermostats are used in heat gun production.

FEATURES

Bimetallic thermostats are manufactured with normally closed or normally open contacts (NO or NC). The devices can be used both for overheating protection and for switching on when the temperature drops below the threshold value. The thermostat activation temperature is fixed.

  • Activation temperature: 90 / 110 / 140 / 180 °C
  • Reset temperature: 75 / 95 / 125 / 165 °C
  • Error: 5%
  • Operating life: 10,000-50,000 cycles
  • Reset type: automatic
  • Contact configuration: normally closed / normally open
  • Rated current and voltage: 16A / 13A / 15A / 16A-250VAC, 10A/15A-125V
  • Insulation resistance >100MΩ
  • Operating temperature: 25 … 180 °C
  • Humidity up to 85%
  • Body: bakelite, ceramics
  • Movable or fixed ring
  • Diameter: 16mm

STRUCTURE AND OPERATION

At reaching the threshold temperature, the bimetallic disk of the thermostat bends. As a result of deformation, the electrical circuit breaks and heating stops.
When the disc is cooled, the plate returns to its original state and the heating element is turned on again.
