The filter-dehumidifier consists of a copper cartridge (90-170mm long, 16-30mm in diameter) with an inlet and outlet openings.

Inside the cartridge tube, a sorbent is filled in between the filter meshes. The large inlet mesh prevents the zeolite from being carried away and entering the condenser. The fine outlet mesh removes solid particles from the refrigerant. The installation direction is indicated by an arrow on the housing.

The sorbent usually consists of synthetic zeolite (NaA) granules of 1-3mm.

The filter-dehumidifier is not repairable. In case of failure, the component is replaced completely. Capillary tubes may need to be cleaned or replaced as necessary.

The operation principle of cartridges differs from traditional tubular electric elements or resistive cable, in which heat is released as a result of heating a metal spiral.
The heat-releasing material of self-regulating cartridges is special thermistor ceramics. Its resistance increases with increasing temperature and reaches a maximum at the Curie temperature. The threshold temperature depends on the chemical nature of the ceramic used.
The cartridge heating is limited to the Curie point, above which the heating almost stops. When the PTC cartridge works, the amount of heat required to evaporate the liquid or thaw the frozen area is released.
Additional heater temperature control systems and overheating protection are not required.
Due to their unique properties, PTC cartridge heating elements can be used both completely submerged in liquid and in the open air.

To be used as a condensate evaporator, the cartridge must be placed as close to the container bottom as possible. A hole with a diameter of 17mm must be made in the body. The cartridge is fixed to a 3/8″ brass fitting and secured with a nut with a sealing gasket.

The standard cable length is 1,500mm Custom-made cartridges 100 to 1000mm in length, with a power of 50-900 Watts are available.

The heater is manufactured on the base of etched nickel alloy foil. This technology enables to produce elements of the required shape with the required electrical characteristics. For example, high power elements with a double loop.

The conductive element is hermetically packed in a silicone sheath. The material and type of contact wire insulation depends on the task and can be single/double-layer, Teflon/silicone. The end section is vulcanized.

Due to thermally stable silicone, the heaters can be used at temperatures of up to 200°C.  The product thickness can be varied from 0.8 to 1mm. Polyester (110°C, 0.20-0.25mm) or polyimide (260°C, 0.10-0.15mm) can be used as sheath materials.

The temperature is set and controlled using the built-in thermostat or an external controller with a Pt100 sensor or a thermocouple.

Flexible heaters are mounted on a self-adhesive layer. The joint has good adhesion to stainless steel and plastics. The installation method is applicable up to 100⁰C.

For high-temperature applications (up to 200 °C), the silicone heater is attached with a one-or two-component vulcanizing adhesive.
